I’m a little torn on the idea of promotion. One part kf me
looks at us play even when on form and realises we would get ripped apart in the premier league mostly due to not being physically strong enough, and also giving the ball away so often which gets punished much more often in the PL. And so I find myself thinking it’s probably too soon for promotion in the Hoff project, and we need a full summer window with Hoff and Attanasio to complete the squad refresh.
However, at the same time I’m aware that any players who have a breakout season this year, or even show a hint of a high ceiling, will probably get sold before next season anyway and so the project goes back maybe not to square one, but maybe square two or three.
I think I’m leaning toward it never being too soon for promotion. You just need to go for it and if you make it you might even keep some of the top players and be able to strengthen enough to make a go of it. A bit like we managed under Lambert.
