I’m not missing your point, I posted below that it will
come down to attitude.

However, you seem to be ignoring my point, which is very simply that you can’t say he’s done nothing when, had he even done a tiny bit better at dortmund or in serie A, we would have no hope of signing him. It’s very unusual for us to be able to sign someone that has this kind of top level experience.

Compare and contrast with Marquinhos, say. He was a bit of a punt by Arsenal and then hadn’t played for them.

I agree his stats aren’t amazing, but to say he’s done nothing is daft given that’s all at a much higher level than we play. Your point could be valid if he’d been on loan at Blackburn or something.

This type of signing is inherently exciting for a number of reasons. It might not work out, but that’s true of literally any signing.
