Not for years mate. We’ve always taken on new staff knowing that they would be working
Saturdays and Sundays with days off during the week instead. The weekend is still by far the busiest two days of the week, it would be like employing integrated Christmases and saying they can have December off.
We’ve never changed someone’s employment mid term to make them work Saturdays or Sundays, we’ve employed them specifically for them from the beginning.
I know I don’t work much these days but for at least the first 20 I worked most Saturdays and had a day off mid week which are brilliant.
We opened permanently on Sundays following the Euros 1998 due to a huge decline in takings during the tournament.
Opening Sundays probably has only spread out the overall takings but bearing in mind the internet is open all of the time you have to compete. And also, like it or not, shopping is a past-time in the Uk.
