My sister does this with her kids... I get it, but...

Is society really so messed up that this is needed? I remember when I used to wander the fields and woods miles from home until sunset without anything but a walkman or a book. The magic was in being a kid, getting away, and figuring things out with a bit of help from my heroes. Nowadays, kids don't read much at all, and their music is just the titilating stuff they hear on TikTok, backing up a few seconds of soft porn and fantasy.
