I’m delighted to see the fall of the Tories, but this is a very strange election. Yes I do think Corbyn did better than starmer.
Labour votes in UK general elections:
2017 — 12,877,918
2019 — 10,269,051
2024 — 9,650,254
Keir Starmer votes in his constituency, Holborn & St Pancras:
2017 — 41,343
2019 — 36,641
2024 — 18,884
More people voted for Labour in 2017 and 2019 yet Corbyn was the “worst ever” is a mad take which needs to be ended now. Distribution of the vote is key in FPTP and Labour ruthlessly managed that but these results reveal a major defect in our democracy which will not go unnoticed.
This who remember Corbyn as a disaster for labour just fell for the smear campaigns of the Tory press. Corbyn wasn’t perfect and he lost those elections because he didn’t master voter efficiency in our system. He did, however, outperform starmer.
