flexible demand management will soon become the norm (and if we'd had the technology it would have been in the past, too). For example all our EV batteries will act as part of the grid in future - charging up when cheap power is abundant, feeding some of that charge back into the grid when demand is high.

Likewise you'd be a bit odd to run energy-hungry appliances that can run any time (eg tumble driers or whatever) when demand is high and power is relatively expensive. But it'll be up to you - no one will *make* you save yourself money by running them when it's cheaper.

So yes, flexible demand will come to seem completely natural and something we'll all be very used to. And indeed our devices will do without us having to do anything. Part of a much better system that will be cheaper than digging fossil fuels out of the ground and burning them, and also won't be f*cking the planet.

But in the meantime feel free to carry on with your slightly weird obsession with Greta Thunberg if you wish.
