RE: the idea that a change in manager doesn’t make much difference

Unai Emery as soon as he took over Villa. They went from a lower mid table act, to top four form ppg, which extended into this season. Emery bombed out Coutinho and lost Buendia to a long term injury, so has had issues with his squad in key areas, as well.

Brendan Rodgers as soon as he took over Leicester. They were mid table playing boring football, then finished 5th twice playing an exciting attacking style and won an fa cup.

Pep Guardiola has Man City dominating the prem, topping 90 points many seasons (and 100 once), which they never achieved once before he arrived.

Gary O’Neil turned Bournemouth into a credible side after Scott Parker waved the white flag and blamed the lack of backing, after losing 9-0 to Liverpool. Bare in mind, O’Neil had never managed before.

Sean Dyche has Everton stabilised, despite the club’s financial issues and points deduction, after previous managers wasted fortunes on dross and nearly relegated the club.

Thomas Frank was the man to finally promote Brentford after years of being nearly men and selling their best players to prem teams. The job he has done since then has been excellent.

All modern examples within various circumstances.

We can even look back at our own club and remember Gunn to Lambert and Adams to Neil, although these are more extreme cases.
