The Scottish Greens have got a membership of about 8,000 and got less than 1% of the vote, but they’ve been exercising very serious power and influence over Scotland for years, just because a weak government needed their votes. So you get bonkers fringe policies being enacted because the fringe people have got themselves a seat at the table and that’s their price.
