I know a bit about NWI, we moved to Norfolk because dad worked there for Air Anglia and
Air Uk. Then a few years ago I actually did some work there for a couple of airlines as a rep.
The “ airport development fee” basically keeps the place running. It wouldn’t survive without it. Most of the members of staff would prefer it if it was called a departure fee because the most common comment is a People don’t see any development.
There is quite a few problems for Nwi, but the main one is its location. Obviously Norfolk, it’s quite sparsely populated and with improved transport links. Stansted is a lot more convenient for many who live south of the county.
As many will know, it’s always survived on the movement of the offshore trade, whether it’s the helicopters, or the onward movement of workers up and down the country or into Europe via Schiphol.
