As much as I like the idea of having a playing style

Of that nature throughout all levels of the club I think it is to idealistic for a club at our level and with football the way it is currently in this country.

In broad and simplistic terms, for this to work in conjunction with our stated aim of premier league consolidation we need to have enough academy graduates at mid table premier league standard along with enough player purchases of the same standard. Our budget means we are not going to be buying many at that standard (a handful at best) which means we need 10 or so academy graduates at that level. How likely is this? For a start if they were that good lots of them would be pinched off us by the current prem teams before they become establish in our first team, and those that do establish themselves in the team will never be numerous enough to populate our squad and have enough surplus to sell a few to keep the coffers going.
Therefore, I think a more realistic way of doing things is to either have a club wide playing style that is more conducive with premiership survival or nurture players that are more adaptable and can therefore play one style to get us out of the championship and if it doesn’t work in the prem they can still be utilised in a different style.
I suppose it’s hedging our bets a bit rather than putting all the eggs in one basket
