Broad not walking was wrong in my view, but two wrongs don’t make a right

I just don’t really like where it’s going. Mankad is a similar thing although one could argue there that the batsman is at least trying to gain an advantage by moving from their crease early.

Ultimately, you generally want to see great sporting contests settled by skill and ability wherever possible and we were denied a bit of that yesterday. That said, England probably played better because of the resentment so we need to bottle that for the rest of the series.

If I had to be super critical yesterday I also thought Stokes, magnificent as he was, should have trusted Broad and taken the easy singles that were on offer for long periods when they had everyone back on the boundary. You can’t chase down 120 runs purely in 6’s. They must have turned down at least 20-30 easy runs and we all know the pressure changes once the target is down below 40 as opposed to 70/80.
