I am hopeful for the next few tests

I look at that test and think we made lots of mistakes, and yet it still required a superb effort from the Aussie tail to sneak a win in the last hour. Imagine if we hadn’t made those mistakes, if we’d taken those easy catches/stumpings? We also did this without Jimmy bowling at all well, with Stokes unable to bowl at all, and with Mo essentially broken by the end of the first innings. That’s half the bowling unit. Plus the pure bad luck of Brooks, and that 3/4 over spell where we batted in the dark between downpours.

There’s so much we can do better next time, I’m optimistic. We may however need to be quite ruthless about selections. Not obvious that JB should keep the gloves. It was a lot of mistakes made.
