It all worked so well last year
In a 4-2-3-1. Round pegs in basically every round hole.
Four at the back, with Gibson-Hanley at the core, Dimi and Max as superb FB options.
Skipp + Kenny in the two.
Todd + Emi as the key two of the three, plus a random one other (Dowell, Onel, whoever).
Pukki up front, running in behind onto gorgeous through balls from Emi/Todd. Simple. Solid. Effective. Clear.
But now we dont play that shape. The back 4 keep making mistakes, whether its turned into a 5 or not. Skipp has gone and has not been replaced and Kenny looks like more like a liability at this level. Emi has gone, Todd is in the wilderness. Pukki is not getting any service of the kind he needs. The wingers we've signed simply dont look good enough. Sarge can run all day but that's about it. Normann is great, but should be playing next to someone like Skipp, but he isnt. Gilmour is apparently the best player in the whole squad, but has shown nothing so far and is keeping Todd company in the wilderness. Dowell has looked completely ineffective (even on set pieces). Idah looks completely lost, and should be on loan in League 1. We now have specialist 2 LBs that have both been s**t, and are likely now benched indefinitely behind a teenage CB.
There isn't a single area of the team that is firing on all cylinders, and I have no clue what the plan was or now is. Tactically we're a mess, and the squad looks completely unbalanced and inadequate.
