This is a good idea in general. The timing is suspect...

Surely sponsorship is meant to be an external party, and being sponsored by a company which is linked or owned by the club's actual owners is just a bit of a tax dodge / FFP workaround.

However, it is a little embarrassing that they choose this moment to come up with that. It's quite clear what the reason is and that's targeted at a single club.
