Still gutted we couldn’t get it over the line, but on reflection credit for taking a very strong Italian side all the way. Chiesa was the most dangerous attacker on the pitch, the two CBs were superb, Verratti and Jorginho smothered the midfield, Emerson was great, the keeper was immense. Ultimately Italy dominated the ball for long periods and our main focus was on simply staying in the game for a lot of the game.

So many of onlys and ifs and buts. But the next evolution is to integrate Bellingham/Foden etc and move to dominating the ball ourselves against elite sides.
