Regarding the idea of our players being better than those from SUFC

I find it weird and quite snobbish of some of our fans on here saying our players are much better, as if technique, passing, dribbling and close control are the only things that matter in football. Maybe if NCFC were a 5-a-side team this argument would have merit, but they’re not.

Sheffield United far outclass Norwich in abilities such as strength, pace, aerial ability, heading accuracy, positional sense, marking, tackling, finishing, tactical discipline, determination, fighting spirit. They’re at least as good as us with off the ball runs, probably better due to Wilder’s unique system.

The truth is Norwich are only a premier league quality side in a few categories, but have clearly been found wanting in many others. If being skilful on the ball and cute with passing was enough then that would be great, but it’s not enough. For example, yesterday provided more examples of just how poor the team is at finishing, which will massively limit any side. Outside of Pukki, who is badly out of form, the team can’t take their chances.

That’s not to say that Farke couldn’t have done better this season. He certainly could have made much better subs on a general basis (although you could argue that yesterday he did, only to be undermined by limitations of his players), while his loyalty to players like McLean and indifference to players like Vrancic might also show that he is too stubborn. But even if you were to argue we should have another ten points, that would only have us just above the relegation zone. We’re struggling for a reason and to blame that solely on the manager is truly bizarre.
