just follow the wild atlantic way up to the north really

these guys do the north of it and give some great advice User Posted Link and these guys do all of it from the south (Cork) User Posted Link haven't done the WAW yet but hoping to do it next year

As far as Donegal goes, we've stayed all over usually we stay with pals but if no room we airbnb, this one is great if you can get it (very busy) and good vfm and literally 2 mins stroll to the beautiful Fintra beach User Posted Link plus the hosts are great people.

Loads to do around and about as well, take a trip up to Teelin and take a boat trip around Slieve League cliffs if you are lucky you'll see some Dolphins (we did) or some Whales (we didn't) Paddy Byrne is the skipper (his boat is the Nuala Star) he's very knowledgable about the history and very funny (he'll take you out to the secret sea farm where they grow the guinness tops) and you can borrow a wetsuit and go wild swimming, the trip is about 90 mins. Then, after the boat trip go up the Rusty in Teelin for lunch User Posted Link they have lovely rooms as well if you want to stay a night and take in some trad irish music in the bar. Also weather permitting there's a good walk up Slieve League called the pilgrims walk User Posted Link you can park near the top and there's normally a shack there that does grilled lobster rolls for apres hike.

Killybegs, Irelands biggest fising port and is worth a trip alone just to go to Mearaid's seafood shack on the harbour, arrive hungry. Glencolumbkille folk village is a bit twee but worth a look to see how life in Ireland was back in the turn of the 18th/19th century

I'd stick to the Wild Atlantic Way even though there's loads more to see away from the coast you'll find plenty on the coast and it's beautiful.
