Arya ex machina was my phrase :)

Thanks for the link - it's a really interesting take (and I love the Wire too). I think as well as all that, the schtick seems to have been almost, identify Badass Moments(tm) and then plot backwards to bring the right pieces together to make them happen (so, Arya ex machina - but also the ridiculous hunt-the-wight magnificent seven thing last season etc). Television as a medium often relies on those "moments" whereas literature doesn't in the same way, and the early seasons were faithful to GRRM's vision and style - inasmuch as one can take multiple unreliable narrators and transfer that to the screen, where Stuff Happens and you just see what that stuff is. I did wonder if they'd end by showing this as a Stark history of what happened, at least hinting at the possibility that it's propaganda and the reality was different, but nope.

On a lighter note I really enjoyed this also User Posted Link
