Right attitude. You'll be fine.
It's the sleep you get two nights before that matters more than the sleep the night before. I find running it as 10mi+10mi+10k works well - the first 10mi feels too slow, the second 10mi feels like I'm putting effort in and the last 10k isn't fun at all. In reality I'm slowing down throughout but the better disciplined runners run negative splits, of course. You're talking 10-11 min miles, maybe start at the slower end and see how you feel round about Tower Bridge in terms of trying to go faster. A *lot* of people with no apparent clue run London, so just do your own thing and don't worry about what those around you are saying. If you need to walk, walk; in fact I walk through every drinks station whether I feel I need to or not.
It's an amazing experience. The crowds are incredible all the way around, and it gives you a genuine lift. People are kind and it's a fabulous thing to do. I keep failing to get ballot places (the two times I've done London have both been for charideemates) but one year I will do it again...
