I think with the younger generation of black players there is also an angle that they go

into other things. It seems in general that less top players are going into management and coaching because so many have other business interests now due to their immense wealth. They either don;t need to work or if they do they have other interests outside football.

Ex players in the past needed to carry on working and football was the only thing they knew and therefore what they went into. Players like Ferdinand, Jenas, Jason Roberts etc are not quite the same. i am sure they could all be managers if they wanted to but all prefer to go down the media, fashion, music, property route rather than managing Macclesfield Town or someone like that.

I agree with you to an extent about the law but i think certainly at junior level at least and in London and Birmingham and in the public sector as well there is a very high number of lawyers from ethnic minorities which will over the next 10-15 years manifest itself at partnership level in all of the major (and less major) firms and probably the judiciary as well. The thing is that, just as with football players retiring, getting their coaching badges and becoming managers these things take time. You will really see the results in a decades time but people are impatient and tend to want to see immediate change which in some ways will be counter productive if the people given the senior jobs are not ready yet.
