trim gets rid of all trailing spaces and leading spaces and double spaces from a text valu

so if you have text " bumholes " in cell A1 and you enter =trim(A1) in cell A2 you will get the result "bumholes"

i was wrong, it isn't LCase it's Lower (LCase is either Access/SQL or Business Objects i get very muddled between what to use in each, so thank f**k for intellitype)

Lower is similar to Trim in that it turns text of any case into lowercase, there's also Upper and Proper - Upper goes to uppercase and Proper puts a capital at the start of every word - good for names, but can't cope with us Irish e.g. O'leary or Mcgovern
