How many are involved?
If its enough to trigger group consultation you can give them a kicking over the selection process a lot easier.
They have to provide the criteria to the reps.
Not so sure on individuals but if they are choosing between people in the same role I think they still need to show what selection criteria they applied, and that it was drawn up before they decided who to keep!
Its worth knowing the hoops the employers have to jump through as many dont and trip themselves up.
If so you're mate can walk away with more than they might want to pay him.
