football is played over a whole season

what about the first half (the only time he's had his first choice team available)?

The attacking players aren't his, he inherited them. They're mind-numbingly cheap by Premier League standards. If I was a Prem manager I wouldn't want many of them. He proved adept in the transfer market at buying defenders so he deserves the chance with a decent budget to buy attackers and make it his team. Until then rushing to judgement is crazy.

We won just 3 of our last 18 games in getting relegated in 1985 (when we didn't have one of the three cheapest squads in the division and so had less excuse, more so given that it was entirely a team that Brown had built) but we didn't sack Ken Brown and the next season we romped to the title. Constant change every time you have a bad run is no recipe for success.
