He never gave last season's heroes a chance to play the way they did last season. Meanwhile, many of them have been frozen out or not given proper opportunities when they've earned them.

If we stay up and Hughton's here next season then I doubt that many of the players from Lambert's regime will remain in September, barring Ruddy, Pilkington, Hoolahan and Russ, maybe Howson, BJ and Ryan Bennett as well.

He's trying to rebuild something that didn't need to be fixed, including the system, culture, personnel et al.
