This Is Probably Wrong, But...

Its the money for me if we go up.

I hate myself a little for it. it should be for the competition and challenge, and for the club to improve itself professionally, attracting better players, having more time to invest in youth etc, a period where there is no pressure, 2-3 years to slowly build and develop a squad to compete at that level.

Which, as far as the last point is concerned, is pretty much how it used to be. When we went up in 1985/86, we could do that, and, in our first season back in the "top flight" again, we finished 5th, with the likes of Bruce, Gordon, Phelan and Tony Spearing (39 out of 42 league starts!) the mainstays.

To finish 5th next season if we went up this would be an astronomical achievement and the odds would be off the scale-a googleplex to one maybe? Infact, we'd do well to finish 5th from bottom and that would be seen as a major achievement, probably over and above, now, finishing third in 92/93!

And thats what I don't like about the Prem!

As for the nonsense about seeing the big names and the great players-well, "Meh!". That means nothing. i go to watch my club and support them, not get off on seeing Rooney or Drogba at Carra, and certainly not to get the bloody camera out at Old Trafford! Infact, with regard to the latter, give me a game at somewhere like Derby or Sheff Weds anyday.
