Steve Ball was indeed a fine player. Only got one run out in the first team as I remember - a friendly against some European team just before the 1991-92 season I think... Good ball winner - good passer...wasted talent - especially considering David Smith was in the squad ahead of him. Eventually moved to Colchester where he became a legend (this may not be true).
