The Long Day Closes.

If you need a plot - and there's nothing wrong with that - then swerve it as it simply hasn't got one. It's a kid growing up in black-and-white (it's Liverpool but don't let that put you off, it could be anywhere) and it's like a dream.

It'll have less relevance for young people, I'd guess - but I'm not going to make apologies for it because I think it's staggeringly good, and I couldn't describe it properly without sounding like a right old arty ponce.
