pretty easy really

1. Any managerial appointment can go tits up, depending on the money available, injuries, player happiness, form, luck so we could have appointed Fergie and he may have taken us on a 5 game losing streak.

2. He's not Dowie, Ince or Boothroyd

3. The atmosphere will be RIGHT behind him every game.

4. It's really not that hard to pick a decent team and get them playing well if the players like you. Players will play well for a man they respect, they won't play so well for a man they don't. Gunn appears to be liked by everyone.
