Thoughts on yesterday

A rare excellent day in a season predominantly full of crap. It was a pleasure to be able to go back to Carrow Road and support the team without the distraction of worrying about our idiot manager and whether a win would keep in in a job. Really pleased for Gunny. He is a top man and I hope enjoyed his moment back in the spotlight.

Personally I was very disappointed when I heard the team, particularly that we were agin playing Russell up front and Loops was on the bench. I thought we looked very wobbly for the first 20 minutes, especially Grounds at the back. Semi was having another of his weird games and up front there was a lack of movement and the ball was not sticking. Having said that we had 2 or 3 decent chances wher shots were bloked and it was clear that Gunny had them up for it.

What a pleasant change though to see the team actually come out after a half time team talk and look like a different team. First time I can recall it all season. Second half I thought we were excellent. They were all decent but particular praise to Clingan (again), Crofty, Doherty (again), Hoolahan (best game so far) and Russell. The latter is not a striker and we won't get away with playing him up there regularly but he will always give his all, did as well as he could and deserved his goal as well as the assist for the first.

So whilst we could not have hoped for better opposition than Barnsley at home (our b***hes now for about 5 seasons) all in all it was encouraging and I think the new man to come in should be able to confortably steer us to the heights of mid table! We do however still desperately need at least a striker and a centre back before the end of the transfer window so i hope the board gets a move on with any appointment!
