chat with Doncaster

Some of you might have been a part of the 'discussion' group that formed around Neil Doncaster before the match opposite the club shop. There were, unfortunately, several silly people trying to monopolise the arena: one guy with a beer-soaked face kept shouting that the supporters should choose the manager; another lady was dig, dig digging about the club contacting the Irish F.A. about Nigel Worthington. For what good it might do, two points emerged that were of note: one young man was trying his best to 'sell' Mr Boothroyd, but each time, Neil Doncaster said that the brand of football that he favoured at Watford was not the type of game advocated at Norwich. I asked the question: 'Does the official short-list correspond to the list of bookies' favourites?' To which I gained the reply: 'Absolutely not!' For all the criticism he has received from some quarters, one has to admire Neil Doncaster for trying to keep in contact with the fans' views, even if he doesn't necessarily agree with them.
