A season that was dying on its feet burst into life for Charlton on Tuesday night as they recorded their first win in 19 games to pile more pressure on Norwich manager Glenn Roeder.

While a Cup run may not be high on Charlton?s wish list as they languish seven points adrift of safety at the foot of the Championship, they now have an injection of confidence.

They came through thanks to Darren Ambrose?s sixth-minute goal and victory ? their first since Oct 4 ? proved easy as they exploited the frailities that have put Roeder?s job in peril. Nicky Bailey?s through pass found a chasm where there should have been a defence and Ambrose coolly scored his first goal of the season.

Norwich wore a commemorative kit to mark the 50th anniversary of their 1959 FA Cup semi-final run, but that team would have been embarrassed to be compared with the misfits who squandered possession and showed so little threat.
