...My god, what an awful, abject, frustrating and disappointing game that was.
Ratings
Marshall 4 - Made 2 good saves, flapped at every cross and his distribution was awful, when Sibs was on he hoofed to lupoli (morgan won the ball every time) there was no quick balls out and every time he sent the ball away it came straight back.
Bertrand 3 - Was poor all game, he didn't overlap on the wing, couldn't keep up with Webber, positioning was poor and was guilty like many of not being able to complete a 10 yard pass.
Otsemobor (a generous) 1 - Awful from start to finish, at fault for the goal, at fault for not getting a foot in, it was like having a striker trying to defend. Not strong enough. Also why the hell did he run sideways through our penalty area rather than clearing? Worst I have ever seen him play hopefully just a blip
Grounds 5 - Was pretty solid, a few handballs were unnoticed by the ref. Needs to be stronger.
Doc 7.5 - 1 of 2 players who had a good game, he mopped up most balls and generally didn't just hoof it. Was guilty of mistiming headers. Most worryingly when the doc went up front for the last 10 minutes he looked sharp and active (if the doc can do it what the hell were the rest doing)
Hoolahan 5 - Played ok and many would give him a higher score but he gave the ball away countless times, tried to do quick free kicks far too often (after the first couple had gone wrong surely they should have taken their time) which would be fine if one came off but all too often he just passed it to a defender.
Croft 5- Huffed and puffed but as every wouldn't take his man on
Fozzy 4 - Some of hiss passes were good others not so, the main aspect is getting stuck in and he just didn't. He was also guilty of having a psat with out own players.
Clingan 3- When he is bad he is very bad, played like he did at Burnely, on occaision he tried but for the majority of the game he was lazy, his balls were predictable and often cut out.
Sibs 3 - Offered nothing and goes down like he's been shot. He won a couple of headers and layed a couple of balls off but was about as physically imposing as IED (sorry rob). IMO he injured himself not once but twice by throwing himself to the ground.
Lupoli 8 MotM (by a long long way) - however bad the others were loopy was good, full of running and movement into the space wanting the ball and generally didn't deserve to be on the losing side.
Sub
Bell 5 - He did ok, but was greedy at the end.
Corft hooly and loopy linked ok some times but never looked like getting a shot away.
For the first time I am leaning towards Roeder out, the display was poor (similar to Barnsley A but we had 5 minutes of pressure at the end) and more worryingly the players were fighting amongst themselves, the defence were at odds with each other on occasion and Fozzy, hooly and clingan were really b***hing at each other. I feel it's roeder's job to build a disciplined team and it looks like he is failing.
Awful support from a Shef U pov, very very quiet, we made a bit of noise but it was hard to get motivated.
We missed Patty today for me he would have given us a battling presence in midfield and GR the people on your bench - you can bring 3 onto the pitch. Would we have lost anything giving cort 15 minutes? a big guy for croft and bell to aim for?
I was listening to Talksport on the way home and they were asking if NCFC were worried about the drop - not any more I'm beginning to feel resigned to it.
