"no one wants to watch games in half empty stadiums"

The average armchair fan doesn't give a s**t about atmosphere in the ground. They'll turn off when it gets boring though, that's for sure; but that'll be down to the football and how it's marketed by the suits.

But I don't really see where this is any different with a PL 1 and 2 structure or the present one except that the football league will be totally finished (including, probably, us) financially instead of struggling on with a few crumbs from the PL table as they are now.
