...they phoned him as he was due to be on the show but wasn't.

The main culprit in all this is Ross, but he seems to have managed to wriggle out of it as it wasn't his show - I'm guessing Brand's been advised to keep his head down and not apologise so as to not admit guilt.

It was Ross that blurted it out mid-conversation.
