My first 'replica' shirt was a plain long-sleeved yellow and green one... which I loved and wore endlessly.
However, when the new Admiral strip came out, I felt a longing to be seen in the new kit. So I took a green felt tip and drew little admiral ensignias all the way down each sleeve.
This random marking of my shirt was greeted with astonishment by my mother who couldn't understand what or why I had done this to my favouritist shirt in all the world.
Her apparent ignorance of me defacing my shirt was all a ruse, for at Christmas that year my present was a brand new Admiral replica kit. She regailed me with the story several times on how difficult it had been to find a canary badge to sew onto the shirt.
I was the proudest kid in all of Suffolk.
There's a pic of me wearing that complete kit on my Facebook page.
Happy days.
