thing isthe one I swallered was an open staple on the account of thefollowing chain of events...

phone ringing in office, so I rushed in to answer it. Client wanted to give me some details which I needed to write down. on top of desk was a document my colleague had removed the staple from with one of them staple remver nippy things. lifted document up to get at post it note pad underneath and staple slid off into my cup of coffee. the rest is blindingly obvious.
