Tech question - help please

My Mac has OS X 10.3.5 which it had when I bought it.

I know there's 10.5 now available, but I wondered if there was anyway of downloading 10.4 for free without having to buy it because I want to download some free software which requires 10.4 as a minimum system requirement.
