Warning - I followed all the instructiions for my own router (not a BT HomeHub thing) and it still wasn't working, and it was getting very very frustrating, but then I noticed that my ISP had implemented (without any announcement) a server side software firewall, which had to be configured.

So make sure that not only you sort out your own firewall/hardware et. al., but ensure that your ISP isn't meddling at all.
