I did this a couple of games ago, comparing teams at the bottom of the league with the same number of games as us at the moment.

Since our two wins, this is the current comparison. After 18 games we currently have 15 points. In previous seasons, the following shows which team was bottom after 18 games, the amount of points they had, the amount of points they finished the season with, if they were relegated and number of points the third from bottom team finished the season with.
06/07 Southend, 12pts, 42pts, Relegated, 42pts
05/06 Millwall, 12pts, 40pts, Relegated, 42pts
04/05 Rotherham, 7pts, 29pts, Relegated, 50pts
03/04 Wimbledon, 13pts, 29pts, Relegated, 51pts
02/03 Brighton, 12pts, 45pts, Relegated, 46pts
01/02 Stockport, 9pts, 26pts, Relegated, 49pts
00/01 Huddersfield, 8pts, 48pts, Relegated, 48pts
99/00 Swindon, 14pts, 36pts, Relegated, 46pts
98/99 Crewe, 11pts, 48pts, Survived, 47pts
97/98 Huddersfield, 14pts, 53pts, Survived, 48pts
96/97 Grimsby, 14pts, 46pts, Relegated, 46pts
If we take 47 points as the average survival mark, we still need another 32 points, or eleven more wins from 28 games. However, we now have more points than any other team at the bottom of the league in the last eleven seasons which is promising. Things are looking up, but we're not there yet.
