he was backing him yesterday. Ultimately McClaren picked just about the best team available (give or take a couple of pretty minor debateable choices). Like other England managers however he was doomed because overhyped players like Gerrard and Lampard AGAIN failed to deliver at the top level.

Can understand why the likes of Gerrard would be keen to shove all the blame onto the manager though.
