SWP was in for his pace

Which was probably a sensible decision.
However he clearly didn't understand his role.
We seem to be obsessed with the fact that wide players need to be able to beat their man which is rubbish.
7 times out of 10 the best cross is the early one.
Get it behind the defence while the strikers are moving onto it.
To do that you need to cross it BEFORE beating the man. Beat the man and often the chance has gone.
