One thing bugs me

Barely a fortnight before his departure, Balls was still right behind Peter Grant and generally a big fan of his: indeed, with us dropping like a stone, he was convinced very big things were about to happen through the guise of Peter Cullum. Now he suddenly lays into Grant for the team's he's left: what, did this all happen during his final fortnight at the club?

To reiterate: I don't subscribe to the view that many of our players are nowhere near good enough. Actually, the squad we have ought to be good enough for lower mid-table at least: that it isn't is not all Grant's fault, and actually, owes far more to the smell of death around the club which results from the board's shocking handling of things since relegation. Indeed, rightly or wrongly, I'm starting to revise my opinion of Grant's time: did any of us appreciate how difficult the job had become? And could anyone do any better working with a board this incompetent?
