Love him to bits and all, but

he already exceeded expectations last year, and this year seems to be finally breaking up. Can't be on anything but a fairly decet wedge, and his influence obviously isn't so massive that we can't do without him (or we'd actually be doing OK occasionally).

I would offer him a coaching role, with combined player status this year, ending at the end of the season, and if he didn't take then au revoir.

We just need the room in the squad and the wage budget for someone who is a bit more mobile and has more future.
