No, I don't believe I am generalising.

Not many pro footballers have been able to combine their footbaling education with a university degree, or even A levels. Those kids you knew who were in, say, the Norwich Academy - did they tend to be the academic high-flyers ? The ones I knew were more low-to-average level.

The kids I knew who were academically gifted and were good at footy never saw it as a potential career. Maybe I'm wrong and most of them are degree material.
