In that football clubs practically force women onto players and encourage

a family life when they're about 18, getting them to have kids, so they're not dripping off some bar stool or giving it all to a bookie

I thought this was the argument for players like Parlour, the idea that it's all well and good thinking a player just needs a good woman behind him and loads of ankle biters and it'll keep him out of trouble, but down the line and with time, it can breakdown because it wasn't really meant to be in the first place

A little bit like Terry and his mrs he's been with from his teens, except he's cheated on her about 10 times before having children and showing the media just what a wonderful family man he is

I suppose I agree with you, that football needs to find a balance, or an understanding of a settled player, instead of ideas from one extreme to another about how players play better with or without women
