You are right the deal has not been done and if you read the small print there is reference to due diligence and contract . However I doubt very much that Evans or the Club would have announced what they have unless they were 90% sure that the deal was done or capable of being done . Evans wants privacy and the best way not to achieve that would be to announce the deal and also write to the local press and then pull out . So I think it will get done in one shape or another .
As for his motives I am not unduly troubled by those . The fact is he is very wealthy and this will not make much of a dent in his fortune . I guess it is just an ego thing . He probably has half an eye on the Premiership and although I know that not many in your part of the world would agree the Town are quite a good bet . Although we don`t own the ground he has not had to pay for it either and the local Council can hardly take it away . Otherwise the infrastructure at the club ( Academy etc ) is very good and he is getting the whole thing for an outlay of £18m debt free .
