David Sheepshanks is still chairman of Ipswich, as he was when his badly-mismanaged club went into administration a few years ago.

Many, many people and many, many businesses lost a lot of money when his club's finances hit the rocks - and however strong the rivalry between our two clubs is, I never like to see a local community stung financially by someone else's folly.

Yet if the millions of pounds being poured into the Portman Road coffers should magically turn Ipswich into trophy winners any time soon, you can bet your bottom dollar that it will be Sheepshanks standing on the balcony at the town hall taking all the plaudits.

What a disgraceful state of affairs that is. I'd rather have our board than that mob any day.
