I must confess

that when Trick or Treat started happening over here I was dead against it: demanding treats with menaces, I called it. But then my little 'un loved it so I softened - and I do love to see happy excited kids whatever the reason. One of the few real joys life can bring, that. I just wish that society hadn't grown to make such a sentiment sound creepy.

I heard a woman on the radio recently, defending the Yoof Of Today and asking how many of us smile at kids regularly? Well i do, but always make a point of smiling at the accompanying adult as well. Small town, this: smile at too many of 'em and I'd be flagged a paedo in no time. That's sad.
