i don't even see what it has to do with culture

He is just a football obsessed guy with no interests in life apart from football. Coming from Hong Kong is irrelevant, it's not the cause of his ignorance. 1000s of people from Hong Kong go travelling places and are interested in everything to do with the culture of the places there are visiting.
