David why don't you start e-mailing and getting in contact with a few people at the UEA? I know that it has quite a large chinese student population. Why not find out about if it has a chinese student association that you get in contact with and some people there you can e-mail and make friends with. When/if you return here in the 'downtime' between football you could go and meet up with a few of these people and find something with them that interests you. Might be a few cute girls there for you plus some of the people could share you passion for Norwich and football. Seriously I don't want to labour this point but as others have said, if you put nothing into a country then don't expect anything back...
